Dear Beryl,
Thank you for giving us this wonderful chance to observe and learn from such great talent. We hope to emulate your special touch and take all your lessons with us in our future career. It’s been an honour getting to know you and this has been an enjoyable learning experience!

Level 2 and Level 3 Beauty Therapy

I am Gosia Skowronek and originally from Poland.

I decided to study the VTCT beauty therapy level 2 & 3 diploma course at The London School of Beauty & Make-up. I chose a full time course because I wanted to start working as soon as possible. During the level 2 part of the course we covered manicure & pedicure, facial massage & skin care, make-up and waxing. I enjoyed this so much that I went on to study level 3 which included anatomy & physiology, body massage, aromatherapy, electrical therapy and epilation.

I have always wanted to make people look and feel good about themselves and felt this would be a perfect course for me.

My reason for choosing The London School of Beauty & Make-up is that it is one of the best beauty schools in the country; it also has an excellent reputation world wide. Therefore I knew I would get the best education and be able to find a good job after I complete my studies.

The tutors were very knowledgeable and took time explaining each subject thoroughly. One of the excellent points of difference with this school is the fully working student salon which is open to the public. This gives the student real working experience.

The anatomy & physiology was quite challenging for me as English is not my first language. However I passed every single exam which was set!!!

We started with theory in the mornings and in the afternoon we practised on each other, which I found most enjoyable. Once we passed our assessments we would be able to work on the general public in the schools salon.

There was not much time for a social life as the course was very intensive; however it is possible to take the course part-time which gives more time to study. My advice to anyone thinking of taking this course is to try it with an open mind, but expect to work hard and don’t give up. The school and the courses met every one of my expectations and more.

Once I have achieved all of my qualifications I hope to open my own salon. Meanwhile I’m thinking of taking the Thai Massage and Reflexology course.

Fashion Photographic & Media Make-up Course

Bernice Beaumont (left) and Joanne Saville (right) met each other on the Eight Week Fashion Photographic & Media Make-up Course which is held at the London School of Beauty & Make-up six times a year. Neither of the girls had any formal training in make-up prior to the start of the course.

Bernice trained as a beauty therapist, then travelled around New Zealand and found out about the course on the internet, while Joanne who was at university discovered the course on the Hotcourses website.

The two of them agreed that the course more than fulfilled their expectations and covered a wide range of different skills including high fashion photographic and catwalk looks plus airbrushing, hairstyling and special effects.

Joanne said she enjoyed the fact that each day of the course you had a different make-up artists teaching and demonstrating different look while Bernice especially loved being sent to a professional London studio and having two separate days on a photo shoot photographing her work on models from a London agency in both colour and black & white. This was a great way to start off building a portfolio.

Since graduating the two girls have already worked on a music video fashion shoots and for an online fashion store plus many private weddings.

They both agree that the course gave them all the skills and confidence required to move them forward in this exciting industry.

Another happy student:

Hello Ms Barnard,
I just wanted to update you about my career. I won this year the MAKEUP ARTIST OF THE CARIBBEAN AWARD. I am very proud to tell everyone that  I am a past student of your school. I also wanted to say thanks for being tough on me when I  was there. Thanks very much for making me the top makeup artist that I am today. Visit my website at http://theflawlessface.moonfruit.com . I am very proud of my work and I hope u will be as well. Hope to hear from you and I  am interested in doing the airbrush course and do you still teach the instructors certification. In Barbados  I  teach women to apply their own makeup, and many more are looking for me to teach them to become makeup artist.

IHBC Beauty Specialist course and Creative Make-up course

"I have completed the IHBC beauty specialist diploma and I wanted to further my studies with The London School of Beauty and Make-up, so I decided to follow another course.

The course I started with is a brilliant spring board to go onto other modules and gave me a solid base to develop my skills. The tutors and staff have been very helpful and encouraging and this has really made me enjoy studying here, especially as I was a little nervous when joined as this has been a big career change for me.

The way the courses are structured means that the emphasis is on the practical side and I have had to work hard as the teaching is very intensive. The academic aspect has pushed me too and I am very pleased with what I have achieved and looking forward to learning more. You really get to know your fellow students and as they are from all over the world there is a real cosmopolitan atmosphere here.

This is a great environment to study in and I am glad to be able to recommend this school."
