Individuals undertaking beauty courses may be surprised to hear the results of a new poll relating to office-friendly makeup.
A survey conducted by officebroker.com revealed more than a third of British bosses believe their female colleagues wear too much lipstick and eyeshadow when at work.
However, nearly all those questioned said they think a modest amount of makeup is suitable and 12 per cent claimed women should don some products before arriving at their job.
The biggest turn-offs were bright-red lips with 32 per cent of the vote, while over-made eyes were said to be unappealing by 28 per cent of individuals.
A spokesperson for officebroker.com said: "The bosses we spoke to had no problem with people making an effort to look good in the office but sometimes had an issue with the quantity of makeup used."
The research follows a recent poll by Proctor & Gamble that revealed wearing cosmetics helps increase perceptions of competence and trust.
