Are snakeskin manicures the next big thing in beauty training?
Are snakeskin manicures the next big thing in beauty training? From time to time, those with beauty training might have to carry out some unusual treatments, but one manicurist in the US has perhaps started a trend which will top them all.

Terri Silacci, from Monterey, California, has started offering clients snakeskin manicures, using real skin discarded by the reptiles.

The two-and-a-half hour treatment involves Ms Silacci cutting the skin to the exact right shade to fit the nails, before sealing it in place with a gel varnish and hardening it under a UV light.

Speaking to the Today show, she explained: "I find that the initial reaction from people is that's weird, that's disgusting," said Terri. "And then they say 'I want it. And I want it right away'."

She added that the treatment lasts about three weeks on the hands and up to 12 weeks on the feet.

Those on beauty courses looking for the hottest shades of the summer might want to follow the recommendations of Joanna McGarry, beauty director at Stylist magazine.

She advised trying out Yves Saint Laurent Laque Nail Polish in Surreal Yellow or Chanel Le Vernis Nail Varnish in Mimosa. ADNFCR-2992-ID-800548065-ADNFCR
