Beauty salon owner reports boost in tanning trade
Beauty salon owner reports boost in tanning trade Despite a slow start to the year, there has been a recent boost in the number of people booking in for tanning sessions, according to a beauty salon owner.

Belinda Price said that there was an "unusually quiet" start to the year, in contrast with 2009 when people rushed to get their tans in the early months.

"I put the quiet spell down to it being too cold to take your clothes off," the beauty salon owner said.

However, Selfridges recently revealed that it had seen an 80 per cent rise in sales of fake tan across all stores, coinciding with reports in the newspapers that this summer will be the hottest in the UK since 1976.

"All types of tanning have seen a boost in trade in the last few weeks," confirmed Ms Price, who has won a host of national and international beauty competitions and is a finalist in the Professional Beauty awards this year.
