Beauty salon-style luscious lips are the first thing a man notices
Beauty salon-style luscious lips are the first thing a man notices Visiting a beauty salon and making lips look their luscious best could pay off, as research has found that they are the feature which men first notice.

Scientists at Manchester University have used eye-tracking software to show that males spend more than half of the first ten seconds staring at a woman's mouth.

"For centuries, women have painted their lips red to enhance their appeal. The practice dates back as far as the Ancient Egyptians, who used red lipstick and rouge to enhance their attractiveness," said Dr Geoff Beattie, who led the investigation.

He added that red lips and perceived attractiveness are still "inextricably linked", with this shade of lipstick being the most powerful at increasing visual fixation.

Ali Howard, writing for the Scotland Herald, added that the desire for larger, fuller lips has been somewhat of a legitimate beauty trend of late, with ladies also going in search of a plump pout.
