Ladies looking to learn make-up techniques will be pleased to hear that Stylist has given some advice on creating smoky eyes.
"The goal has always been to create the illusion of darkness. It makes the eye look wider, whiter and the iris darker. It's quite literally captivating," Debbie Finnegan, Mac's senior make-up artist, told the news source.
She also pointed out that this style is constantly being reinvented. Luckily, Stylist has compiled a list of the women who pulled it off best.
The news source noted that Hollywood legend Theda Bara wore the look with dark plum lips in the 1920s. Her style can be achieved using Max Factor Smoky Eyeshadow in 1 Onyx Smoke.
Alternatively, ladies looking to learn make-up tips may want to channel Brigitte Bardot's look. In the 1950s the actress' style was all about her attention-grabbing smoky eyes, teamed with slightly glossy, nude lips. To create her look beauty enthusiasts can try using Beth Bender's Get In Line kit, which includes a stencil.
The smoky eye look was also worn by Diane Kruger to a recent premier for the film Unknown.
