Research has shown that women prefer to have flawless skin than colourful make-up, beauty school students will be interested to learn.
A survey by Neutrogena and Harris Interactive discovered that women want cosmetics to provide them with sun protection and flawless skin.
Almost 60 per cent of respondents said that, if they could only use a single product, they would go for one that gave them flawless skin tone. Over 50 per cent said that flawless skin was so important to them that they would stop eating chocolate for a year to have it.
Over half of respondents are concerned about UV rays and use products containing SPF.
Amy Oreasman, a make-up artist, said: "I’m pleased to learn that … women are tuned into what so many professionals already know – beautiful skin is essential to any look. It’s the canvas women work with everyday and when it looks great so will everything else."
In other news, according to Reuters, male cosmetics sell twice as well as products for females in the UK.
