Make-up expert Amany Aly Shawky said that winter takes its toll on skin and so completely different cosmetic products are required, reported Almasryalyoum.com.

Skin is dried out by the elements in winter, so Ms Shawky advises: "Follow your usual routine of cleanser and toner but follow it with moisturiser. Chanel anti-pollution cream is your number one choice".

Ms Shawky suggests that winter make-up colours can take being a bit bolder, so for cheeks try using plums and bronzes and for eye-shadows look for jewel inspired colours, like royal blue and emerald green.

Lip balm is an essential in winter to combat damage caused to the lips by the cold, she added.

Kate Shapland agreed that extra skincare steps are needed during the winter months, as central heating can also contribute to drying out the skin, the Daily Telegraph reported. ADNFCR-2992-ID-800249702-ADNFCR
