A new survey has revealed northern women are as eager to splash their cash on cleansers, moisturisers and other cosmetics as their southern counterparts, news which may interest those training to be makeup artists.
The Trafford Centre Beauty Magic survey found a third of ladies like to spend between £30 and £100 on high-end products, the Messenger reports.
Caroline Aikman of the shopping centre said: "With the huge success of shows like The Only Way Is Essex and Made in Chelsea, the perception has been that southern ladies are better groomed and more committed to their cosmetics."
However, the results of the study suggest northern women are also fans of makeup, with mascara the most popular must-have item as it received two-thirds of the vote, while lipstick came second with 20 per cent and blusher third with 13 per cent.
In a recent interview with Closer magazine, makeup expert Lauren Parsons explained how waterproof mascara is a good beauty investment as is has "mega" stay-put power.
