Those on beauty therapy courses should ensure that they advise people to avoid using soaps on their face in favour of cleansers, an expert has suggested.
Remmy Diagbare, writing for the Vanguard, has emphasised the importance of avoiding these alkaline substances as they remove the skin's acid mantle.
As a result of this, the skin's pH may not remain stable and it could even dry out as a result, both of which could impact on the subject's skin quality, she warned.
She said: "This acid mantle is very delicate, and soap completely removes it, meaning that now your skin needs to make itself a new one."
Ms Diagbare added that this can be a severe drain on the skin as it takes approximately eight hours for the mantle to be recreated.
This summer could also see a rise in the number of people using eyelid primer, as Divine.ca's Marieve Inoue has highlighted the fact that this product can ensure that other embellishments remain in place.
