Those on beauty therapy courses should keep an eye on Michelle Obama, whose nails have been "bang-on-trend" according to an expert.
Leighton Denny, the UK's leading nail guru, has praised the wife of the US president for her statement pedicure and the colouring she has chosen.
He pointed out the similarities between the shade and his own range of spring and summer colours, emphasising the importance of matching these to one's outfit as a whole.
"With nails, it's so easy to change your look using just colour, so you can always stay on-trend without having to experiment with fashion fads such as nail art," he explained.
Mr Denny said that it is important that nails remain an "asset" of the hand and are not simply deemed to be another feature.
His remarks follow comments from magazine Grazia which praised Michelle's role as style icon after she showed off a bright green pedicure by sporting a pair of strappy sandals.
