Beauty therapy news: People "skimp and splash" on beauty products Those on beauty therapy courses will be interested to hear that consumers "skimp and splash" when it comes to buying beauty products.

Research from Mintel showed that people's "recessionary attitude" has outlived the recession. A study by the company found that 32 per cent of individuals' beauty habits remained unaltered last year.

Over one-quarter of those questioned also admitted that they are expending less when they shop for beauty products.

Beauty therapy students have also been told that 40 per cent of UK adults compare prices and shop around for beauty items.

Hilary Monk, senior retail analyst at Mintel, said: "The recession has encouraged a cost conscious attitude to everyday beauty lines in Britain, with consumers looking for value and offers where they can."

However, one-third of people revealed that they would be willing to pay extra for perfumes that were good quality and 23 per cent on good skincare products.

Those who do want to buy a more cost effective product could try one of the Body Shop's range of Born Lippy lip balms, according to Stuff.co.nz.
