Beauty therapy news: Women spend £133,000 on their looks Ladies on beauty therapy courses will be interested to find out that women spend over £133,000 on trying to make themselves look more attractive over their lifetimes.

New research found that each year the average female splashes out £405 on their hair, adding up to £26,325 over their lifetime.

"Body maintenance is a vital part of feeling good about yourself and we all invest a lot of time and energy to look our best," Sue Leeson, of TV shopping channel QVC, which conducted the research, said.

Beauty therapy students were also told that the average lady spends £171 on their eyes, £130 on their lips, £717 on their body, £143 on their hands and £201 on their feet.

Overall, the average female pays out £133,575 over their lifetime on beautifying themselves, which is good news for beauty therapy students.

In contrast, the average male only forks out £61,230 during their lives to improve their looks.

Furthermore, Neil Young, senior artist for Mac, told Stylist that people can often purchase beauty items that they do not use or need.
