Beauty training 'proving popular with men'
Beauty training 'proving popular with men' More and more men are signing up to take part in beauty courses, according to new research.

An article in the Edinburgh Evening News reported how an increasing number of males are showing an interest in the industry.

Former Body Therapist of the Year at the British Beauty and Spa Awards Jamie Chalmers commented: "I have worked in this environment for over nine years now and attitudes have changed – nine years ago clients were surprised to see a male therapist but now people don't even comment on it."

He added some individuals actually prefer to be treated by a male employee and the practise is increasingly common.

According to the news source, door-to-door makeup company Avon has seen more men applying for jobs, with five per cent of the workforce no longer female.

Those interested in a career in the industry may want to undertake formal training as general manager of the British Association for Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology Julie Speed recently claimed it is the best way to secure a job.ADNFCR-2992-ID-801243208-ADNFCR
