Botox is still one of the most favoured beauty treatments in the UK, according to statistics.
Research conducted by Mintel found that there has been a 15 per cent increase in the last year in the numbers of women and men trying out the injections for the first time.
This equates to one million beauty treatments being carried out each year for the first time only, and more research by the same company has found that many people consider cosmetic surgery as part of a normal beauty routine.
Alexandra Richmond, a Mintel analyst, said: "The non-surgical sector is booming. Accessibility has been a key driving force, with consumers now able to have a procedure in their lunch break or alongside their dental appointment."
It remains to be seen however, whether bee venom, which has been dubbed the natural version of Botox, will create such a stir in the beauty world as it is embraced by the likes of Danii Minogue and Camilla Parker Bowles.
