Beauty treatments: Women will stick to what they know
Beauty treatments: Women will stick to what they know When it comes to new up and coming beauty treatments that are a little bit 'out there', women are more likely to stick with a known brand or something that has been tried and tested by a friend, according to an industry expert.

Laura McCreddie, managing editor of Professional Beauty, spoke of the "gimmicky" treatments such as the Garra Rufa fish pedicure treatment, where fish nibble at dead skin as a little too far-fetched for the average consumer.

"Most consumers generally will stick to what they know. I mean, they may go out on a limb if maybe a celebrity recommends it or if they read about it in a magazine," she added.

However, she added, referring to the latest alternative beauty treatment of Nightingale dropping face wash as "a little bit too far for most consumers and a little bit scary".

Ms McCreddie added that particularly as the nation is just coming out of a recession, they are less likely to fork out hard-earned cash on something that they are not sure will even work.
