Ladies have been advised to ensure they select a qualified laser hair removal practitioner when they decide to have the treatment.
Eve Oxberry, editor of Professional Beauty, described how it is important to attend a no-obligation consultation to discuss the procedure before agreeing to an appointment.
"It's important to feel comfortable with the person you're choosing," she remarked, adding that there are certain things to enquire about and check for when meeting with a professional.
All salons should provide safety glasses to protect eyes from the laser light, while aftercare advice about using fake tan and avoiding direct sunlight should also be given, Ms Oxberry explained.
By asking a few questions, ladies will be able to assess whether practitioners appear to "know their stuff" and can be trusted.
Undergoing a laser hair removal procedure may appeal to some women, after a recent survey by Mintel revealed 62 per cent of individuals aged under 25 have hurt themselves while performing DIY excess hair removal.
