Defined eyes set to be key trend for 2010
Defined eyes set to be key trend for 2010 If you've been considering fast track makeup courses recently then you'll no doubt be aware of the pared-down aesthetic that continues to be a major feature on the catwalks.

So to tap into this trend you'll need a kohl liner before you embark on those fast track makeup courses, according to Jessica Hogan, writing for Vogue magazine.

She said that liner has now "stepped up in importance as being the key tool to define eyes" as a result of the natural and minimalistic looks that have played a major part in New York, London and Milan.

The Gucci and Blumarine shows were particular proponents of the defined eye look, with kohl pencil-rimmed waterlines featuring heavily, albeit with different finishes.

Pat McGrath at Gucci chose a smudged, sultry effect, while Charlotte Tilbury went for a feline flourish at Blumarine. Ms McGrath also worked on the models for the Dolce and Gabbana show, updating the classic red lip trend.

"With many a statement lip often celebrating the arrival of the autumn/winter season, carefully defined eyes are quickly taking centre stage," Ms Hogan said.
