People on makeup courses should focus on bright colours for spring, with one expert recommending blues, purples, greens and corals.
Makeup guru Bobbi Brown told Msnbc.com that the warmer weather calls for brighter shades to lift the face and get people in the mood for summer.
People on makeup courses need to find wearable colours which complement the skin tone, while also matching it to the colours of clothing worn.
Ms Brown added: "When it comes to wearing bright makeup, the possibilities are endless."
The expert said that people who are cautious about going for bold lips can opt for a gloss instead, to make the look more subtle. "Layer it over your regular lip colour to give it an extra boost, or wear alone to add a hint of hue to your lips," she told the website.
Those on makeup courses should also try a three-tone look on the eyes, as recommended by make-up artist Oonagh Connor in the Daily Mail, who suggested using bright blue, turquoise and silver shades.
