If you've got aspirations of owning your own beauty salon one day then make sure you brush up on your manicure skills as nails are increasingly being used as a fashion statement, according to an expert.
Jenni Middleton, editor at Professional Beauty, the UK's leading publication for beauty salon owners and others working within the industry, said that colour is becoming more and more important in fashion.
Bold shades are being used in jewellery, accessories, shoes and handbags, and catwalk nails have reflected this too, she explained.
"I think that colour enables women to express their individual style.
"Women like to use their nails as a jewel; it's a fashion statement, not just about looking groomed, but looking individual," Mr Middleton added.
She said that a manicure is one of the quickest ways to feel instantly groomed and refreshed.
Prospective beauty salon owners are no doubt aware that the colour of the moment when it comes to nails is "greige", a cross between grey and beige, which was originally developed by Chanel.
