Horizontal outlines are one of the big beauty trends to emerge from the Paris catwalks and make up school students may find themselves following this fashion pretty soon.
Jessica Hogan, writing for Vogue magazine, said that straight lines across the eyes appear to be the latest way of spinning a classic look. She highlighted the Isabel Marant show as an example of the horizontal effect.
"Black flicks of liquid liner were extended straight from the outer corner, rather than following a customary feline, winged shape," she explained.
Make up school students who prefer an even more avant garde take on traditional styles should look to the Ann Demeulemeester and Jean Paul Gaultier shows, where liner was used in a more alternative way, according to Ms Hogan.
MAC Cosmetics' Rudi Cremers drew a broken line across the brow at Ann Demeulemeester and Stephane Marais traced random strokes above and below the eye for Jean Paul Gaultier.
This trend follows the preference for grunge and minimalism seen in New York, London and Milan.
