Canwest News Service has offered five simple steps to help you make your beauty routine fabulous for your looks and the health of the planet.

It recommended that you reduce waste by choosing products with less packaging, or that which is made from recycled or recyclable materials.

"Reuse or recycle makeup containers. Bring your own reusable shopping bag," it advised.

The news provider also suggested that budding makeup school students with a green conscience support Fair Trade initiatives, which improve the lives of disadvantaged people, support environmental restoration and encourage sustainable farming practices.

You can also get crafty with your products, like mixing creamy lipstick with gloss as recommended by Kim Kardashian's make-up artist Mario Dedivanovic, who revealed some of his secrets to FocusOnStyle.
