Students embarking on make up artist courses have been offered some top advice on how to keep their products as good as new.
Professional make up artist Sandra Cooke offered some sterling advice against pumping their mascara wand up and down in the tube, as this will dry the product out.
Instead she recommended artists "dip and twirl the wand to coat it with product".
"You'll have enough to cover your lashes, and your mascara will last a lot longer," she was quoted by the Daily Telegraph as saying.
For those looking to learn make up tips that are slightly more daring, Thomas de Kluyver advised trying coloured mascara, recommending a plum shade for blue eyes and dark green for brown peepers.
With the current trend for vintage fashions, there is certainly no better time for those on make up artist courses to perfect their mascara technique.
Finish off the look with some statement lips to channel a Mad Men-inspired vintage look.
