L'Oreal expert sheds light on starting makeup artist career Posted by Steven Drake

Jake Galvez is best known for his innovative work for L'Oreal and Shu Uemura, but like many who are undertaking courses at make up school, he too has icons he looks up to, such as Pat McGrath and Topolino.

He explained that while he does enjoy the beautiful no makeup look, his trademark style is 'avant-garde', beautiful wearable art, but he explained there is only one place you can come from to get to where he is now.

"The best make up artists in the world have something in common, it's called humble beginnings. I believe that you have to have innate talent, something you were born with," he said.

On his must-have product list, Shu Uemura blush and eyeshadows came at the top followed by MAC Studio Fix and Mineralize powder foundations and he admitted to being a "mascara freak".

Mr Galvez, who is from Manila in the Philippines had created make up looks for weddings, TV and film and for special effects.ADNFCR-2992-ID-19804226-ADNFCR
