Make-up school students 'should not keep products too long'
Make-up school students 'should not keep products too long' Beauty salon professionals should always look at the packaging of make-up to see if it has a date of manufacture, ensuring that products are not kept for too long.

Jaklin Idris, director of education for Paris-based skin-care brand Darphin, told the Wall Street Journal that once a product is opened she tries to use it within 24 months, while those for the eye area should only be kept for six months.

"The eyes are sensitive areas, so companies that formulate [eye-care products] tend to use very gentle preservatives so they won't irritate the eye area," she told the news provider, adding that as a result "they don't last for a long time".

Furthermore, beauty salon professionals need to ensure that they do not keep skin-care products in extreme temperatures as these environments can damage ingredients which are contained in them.

Susan Mayou, a consultant dermatologist, recently told the Daily Mail that water-based products and make-up in pots have the potential to become infected over time, adding that lids should always be put back on to them.
