Makeup course students will be aware that the smoky eye trend of summer is going nowhere when it comes to autumn, but as the seasons change, they have been advised to steer clear of black makeup as it can be a bit too heavy.
According to Stylist, silver is the perfect shade – as black is too dark for the end of summer – and at the A/W shows, grey was everywhere.
Also, makeup course students were advised to recreate the style at Matthew Williamson and at Jason Wu, which involves applying silver to the lid and leaving the rest of the eye bare – no liner or mascara.
Christian Dior's national make-up artist, Jamie Coombes, said: "Apply shadow with a moist brush as this creates a brilliant intensity and gives a fantastic finish".
Meanwhile, silver and greys are definitely a big hit in the fashion arena when autumn and winter set in.
