People embarking on make-up courses need to remember that mineral foundation is not for everyone and it may take some time to find the right product for each person.
Independent beauty guru John Gustafson told Handbag.com that those on make-up courses may need to have lots of options in their kits so that one will suit a client's skin.
He added that if powder mineral foundations do not work for some people, then it may be worth trying pressed items or ones which are applied with a sponge like a cream.
Speaking about other products that people on make-up courses can use, Mr Gustafson told the website that primers are a good way to prepare skin for foundation.
He recommended the Guerlain Meteorite Primer as a good but pricy product, while the Becca Pore and Line Corrector and the Shiseido Men's Anti-Shine Refresher are other good buys.
Primers are increasingly important for people on make-up courses, as the flawless look was big at the Oscars this year, according to make-up expert Bruce Grayson.
