Women currently on professional make-up courses have been told of the top trends for autumn and winter 2010.
Sharon Forrester, writing for Vogue, has explained that when it comes to skin care, the face should be natural and to achieve this, it's all about the "prep" work.
"Prime skin with a moisturising serum or a few drops of MAC's Care Blend Essential Oils before applying your foundation; then dust with pressed powder for a matte yet silky finish," she said.
Red lips are the order of the day (or season) and professional make-up course students were told that any shade will do – whether blackcurrant, raspberry or blood red, if it's outlined with a pencil, either glossy or matte, the look is bound to hit the right note.
To offset the make-up, hair should be loosely curled, or for more of a catwalk style, frizzy and volumous. Look to the likes of Vivienne Westwood, Roksanda Ilincic and Karl Lagerfield for inspiration.
