The minimalistic look may have taken over the catwalks, but if you're considering professional makeup courses then you'll no doubt want to know as much about the smoky eye as the pared down aesthetic.
Hilary Mantel, writing for the Guardian, said that navy and purple are being used to update the smoky eye look and provide a new twist to the ever-popular trend.
Purple is an "amazingly kindly shade, and makes common old blue eyes take on a fascinating hint of green", Ms Mantel said.
Pink will also not have gone unnoticed by anyone who has enrolled on professional makeup courses. The candy colour is another shade that has been touted as a must-have for spring.
Just a word of warning to those of you embarking on professional makeup courses though. Ms Mantel recommended using plenty of black liner with pink to avoid looking like a "rabbit".
Another must-have product this season is a kohl liner, as defined eyes continued to feature heavily on the catwalks, according to Jessica Hogan, writing for Vogue magazine.
