Splash out with eyeshadows
Aqua marine is not usually a colour associated with cosmetics, but according to a Hollywood make-up artist, it is the perfect shade to add glitz to summer make-up.

Glasgow-born Graham Johnston has worked with the likes of Catherine Zeta Jones, Brad Pitt and Russell Crowe and when appearing on stv, advised those currently in make up training to add some sparkle to a look.

"The washes of colours this year are golds and aqua marines. A little splash of colour just lifts the eye. For a day look, you want something with a bit of sparkle just to reflect the sun, give that summer feel to it," he recommended.

Among his top tips were storing a mineralised blush "stashed" in a handbag, as this can be used to glitz up eyelids and cheeks and will reflect the sun, creating a radiant complexion.

When considering summer colours, make up schoolstudents were recently told by Make up artist Kato Debian-Ellinger to think Alice in Wonderland, opting for pastels and bright pinks.
