Anyone thinking of taking professional makeup courses should arm themselves with tips from the experts and awards season is the ideal time to pick up some style secrets.
Hello! magazine has identified some of the tricks used by makeup artists to ensure their star clients look radiant on the red carpet, with preparation being one of the vital parts of the job.
Moisturising before applying makeup is very important as it helps to plump the skin and get rid of any dry patches which can make foundation look uneven, the publication said.
"But leave as long as possible before applying cosmetics so the moisturiser has time to sink in, and makeup doesn't cling to the hydrating ingredients, instead of the skin, and slip off," it advised.
Those embarking on professional makeup courses should also ensure they have a primer handy as this evens out the complexion, according to the magazine.
Benjamin Rousseau is one of the makeup artists who has beautified stars heading down the Bafta red carpet and he told the Daily Mail that weekly exfoliation is an important part of preparing for a big awards show.
