All you students in makeup training will be aware of the troublesome area under the eye, whether the cause is dark marks, bags or circles, but knowing to how to cover them effectively is another story.
According to private beauty consultant Sara McKiernan, who spoke to Modern Mom recently, there are three products makeup school students should invest in to get the best coverage and they should also be recommending certain lifestyle changes to their subjects.
Under-eye cream rich with vitamin K, C, E and retinol is the ideal first step in the makeup routine, followed by a thick concealer that either matches the skin tone or is slightly lighter that should go on top.
She said, without the cream, "the concealer may settle into fine lines and wrinkles, making you look older".
Finally, Ms McKiernan suggested sealing the products in with a translucent powder, which will help the concealer stay in place for longer.
Health-wise, drinking ten glasses of water a day and eating healthily can help reduce the appearance of dark marks.
